Yes, it was 26 days after her first baby was born that she and her family discovered that she was still pregnant. In late February her first baby was born and then roughly 4 weeks later, she was taken to the hospital again after complaints of stomach pain by Arifa.
The doctors examined her and informed the family members that she was pregnant and that too with twins. Since she was in pain and pregnant, a C section or cesarean was performed. Arifa gave birth to twins, one male, and one female.

Arifa Sultana had to go through this surprising situation because her family is poor and they were not able to afford an ultrasound. This made the birth of the twins a surprise for the entire family.
The condition when a woman has two uteruses is called uterus didelphys. Although this double uterus scenario is not common, it is not an abnormality. It is a uterine malformation where the embryogenetic fusion of the Mullerian ducts fail to occur and there is a presence of a paired uterus. The result is the presence of two separate cervics and a double uterus with a double vagina in extremely rare cases.
As per the National Institutes of Health, this situation has a probability of one in a million. It is very tough for any women to discover about this unless she is about to give birth or before she is pregnant.
Even Dr. Sheila Poddar who performed the surgery was her surprised and admitted that she had not seen anything like this before. However, she is happy that the mother and her newborn babies are all well.
From the reports of the AFP news agency, Arifa is happy that she has given birth to twins and after her first delivery but is also worried as to how will she manage to raise them with all necessary amenities given that has her husband has low wages working as a laborer.
Her husband yet affirms that he will put in his best efforts for their children.
