Paris didn’t become the most beautiful city overnight. The beautiful and mighty monuments contribute to Paris’ beauty. Recently, the Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the historic monument of Paris has been in news for the saddest of the reasons. The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris faced serious damages after a fire broke out in the church. Though the firefighters successfully put out the fire, some parts of the church still razed to the ground. A police drone later captured images to reveal the damage that the Notre Dame Cathedral went through as a result of the inferno.

The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was going through repair work when a devastating fire broke out on Monday. The fire started at 18:30 (16:30 GMT). The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo requested the citizens to respect the security perimeter. She said, “a terrible fire is underway at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The @PompiersParis are trying to control the flames. We are mobilized on the spot in close connection with the @dioceseParis. I ask everyone to respect the security perimeter.”
The reason behind this fire is yet unknown but the Parisian fire brigade thinks the fire is linked to the renovation work that is in process at the Cathedral’s spire. The possibilities of this fire being a terrorist activity or arson have been ruled out by the authorities.
Though the 850 years old Notre Dame Cathedral went through a lot of damage, the precious artworks and artifacts have been saved. Among the artifacts was a tunic worn by King Louis IX and the crown worn by Jesus Christ at the cross.
Nicholas Delesalle, a French journalist tweeted, “good news: all the works of art were saved. The treasure of the Cathedral is intact, the Crown of thorns, the Holy Sacraments.”
President Emmanuel Macron vowed to rebuild the Notre Dame Cathedral. He said the worst damage has been avoided. It took a century to build the cathedral. The work started in 1160 and it was a long road. He said, “we’ll rebuild this cathedral all together and it’s undoubtedly part of the French destiny and the project we’ll have for the coming years. That’s what the French expect [and] because it’s what our history deserves.”
The entire world supported Paris during this hour of need. The Notre Dame Cathedral has been closed for 5-6 years for the repair work and the influential people have already pledged money to help restore the structure.
