It may take 9 months to come out for a baby but it takes a lot of years to finish your graduation. You must be thinking it’s really absurd to compare the two phenomena but after watching this maternity shoot of a woman with her thesis, you will find it relatable. It’s almost the time of the year where students are receiving their graduation degrees and to celebrate it they are having so many creative ideas. One among them, that caught everyone’s attention was this maternity shoot of a 26-year-old student with her thesis.
Sarah Whalen Curtis is a 26-year-old grad student who is completing her Ph.D. She describes the period of her getting a Ph.D. degree as her labor period. And captured the moments before her ‘delivery period’ in various maternity shoot pictures.
The Ph.D. student is pursuing her degree from the Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and she finally completed her thesis on epigenetics that took her a total of 4 years to write. But as she completes it, she thought about celebrating the news and breaking it to others and the idea that topped her head was of doing a maternity shoot that eventually brought her a lot of attention.
Curtis also talked about her family making remarks concerning her future plans, “I have a lot of nieces and nephews, and my mom told me, ‘Either get a Ph.D. or give me a grandchild. I got my doctorate,” she said.
Her post got viral pretty soon and students all the over the world relate to her pain and happiness of delivering this ‘baby’. People liked the idea so much that they even started sharing pictures of their own ‘babies’.
