Case in point is a woman in China who gave birth to twins then went on to have a DNA test so that she can register them. The twist came after she got the result of this DNA test. It turns out, the twins have different fathers. This happened in Xiamen, China. Here’s what the Chinese authorities have to say.

This is known as ‘heteropaternal superfecundation’ or ‘double pregnancy’. In this type of pregnancy, two or more eggs get fertilized by two different fathers during the same cycle. All this time, the wife had successfully kept her affair hidden. And with these twins, it was quite ‘clear’ they are from the same father.
However, the biological father had always had his suspicions as the twins weren’t identical. One of them had different facial features than the father. As told to Strait Herald, the possibility of different fathers never arose to this man.
Xiamen has a legal process that requires newborn babies to go through a DNA test in order to get them register. For the twins, the DNA test brought havoc. The mother initially declined all allegations but later confessed to a one night stand. The biological father said, ” I obviously still want my own child, but I am unwilling to raise someone else’s”.
According to the doctors, this case of double pregnancy proves that the woman had sex with both the men within a few days. They had to disclose this case of the twins having different fathers as it’s a rare one. As the twins have different fathers, they are fraternal twins. Reproductive scientist, Michael Carroll said that such a case is really rare in humans.
Whatever the DNA test results were, the couple had finally resolved the issues among themselves. I am pretty sure the couples will now get anxious over this rule of DNA test.
